This Pan Am-Themed Cruise Starts at $3.7K Per Person

Holland America Line has teamed up with the iconic American airline Pan Am to launch an exciting new cruise that will appeal to aviation enthusiasts and travelers who enjoy extended itineraries.

Set to embark on October 30, 2027, this 28-day cruise celebrates the centenary of Pan Am’s inaugural flight in October 1927. As part of Holland America’s “Legendary Voyages” series, the cruise will sail from Miami aboard the Zuiderdam, visiting 18 ports across Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean, including several historic Pan Am destinations. Tickets for this unique journey go on sale today, October 21, 2025, at 1 p.m. Eastern.

Pan Am, short for Pan American World Airways, ceased operations in 1991 but was renowned for its exceptional service and pioneering spirit. In its early days, the airline operated Clippers—flying boats that took off and landed on water—traveling from port to port in a manner reminiscent of modern cruise itineraries.

The collaboration between Pan Am and Holland America is part of a broader resurgence of interest in the airline’s legacy. In 2025, an aviation consulting firm announced plans to revive Pan Am as a scheduled airline, while a European hospitality group revealed intentions to launch the Pan Am Hotel brand in 2028. Additionally, Hilton is set to open the Pan Am Hotel by Hilton in Los Angeles in 2026.

Here’s everything you need to know about Holland America’s 28-day Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage.

How much the Pan Am cruise costs

Pricing for the Pan Am cruise starts at $3,724 per person (including taxes and fees) based on double occupancy.

While this may seem like a significant upfront cost, it averages out to $133 per day, which is quite reasonable considering it includes onboard dining, activities, and accommodations. Note that additional costs apply for premium dining, shore excursions, Wi-Fi, and select beverages like sodas and alcohol.

Where the cruise will go

The cruise will set sail from Miami, which was once home to Pan Am’s seaplane terminal (now Miami City Hall). This terminal served as a hub for the airline’s flying boats and facilitated travel throughout the Americas.

The planned stops for the cruise include:

  • RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

  • Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

  • Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas*

  • Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago*

  • Progreso (near Merida), Mexico*

Ports marked with an asterisk indicate original Pan Am destinations. Other ports are close to original destinations, such as San Pedro, which is about an hour’s drive from Santo Domingo.

This sailing will differ from typical Caribbean itineraries. While it includes a stop at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay—Holland America and Carnival Cruise Line’s private island in the Bahamas—it also visits less common ports like Port-of-Spain and Santa Marta.

“What’s really unique is that these destinations, many of which were part of Pan Am’s original Clipper routes, are much harder to reach from Miami and simply aren’t accessible on a shorter cruise,” said Robert de Bruin, Holland America Line’s director of deployment and itinerary planning.

What passengers can expect

While specific details about onboard experiences are still forthcoming, Holland America is known for its refined dining and excellent educational programming, particularly on its Alaska cruises. The cruise line’s elegant decor may evoke the nostalgic charm of the Pan Am era.

Passengers can look forward to meals inspired by the Clipper service, vintage Pan Am decor, and onboard programming featuring historical footage. There will also be excursions and experiences designed to connect with the airline’s legacy and the spirit of adventure that both Pan Am and Holland America embody, according to de Bruin.

In planning this Pan Am-themed voyage, de Bruin drew on family connections. He spoke with his uncle-in-law, a former Pan Am steward, who shared stories about the flying boats, and his wife’s grandfather, a flight engineer for the airline who participated in Pan Am’s historic flight to Antarctica in 1957—the first commercial aircraft flight to the continent.
