JetBlue Adds Perks for Families, Cuts for Entry-Level Elites

JetBlue Airways has recently unveiled changes to its loyalty program, TrueBlue, and the updates present a mixed bag of benefits. Families and top-tier Mosaic elites are set to gain the most, while those at the lowest elite status levels may find their perks diminished.

One of the standout updates is a groundbreaking policy that allows parents flying with children to earn Mosaic status more quickly.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming changes, announced on October 16, 2025.

Coming soon: Family Tiles

Starting February 1, 2026, tiles earned by children will count toward their parents’ elite status and perks in a new program called Family Tiles. This initiative is a first among U.S. airlines, aiming to reward families traveling together.

Details on how this program will function are still forthcoming. JetBlue has indicated that children must be enrolled in Family Tiles and linked to a parent or guardian’s TrueBlue account. Further eligibility requirements are yet to be disclosed.

This Family Tiles concept complements JetBlue’s existing Points Pooling feature, which allows up to seven members to combine TrueBlue points without incurring transfer fees.

Other positive changes for TrueBlue

Effective immediately, flyers will enjoy an extra month of elite status. Instead of expiring on December 31, 2025, elite status will now last until January 31, 2026, allowing year-end flying and spending to contribute to elite status.

Elite status will continue to be extended through January 31. For instance, if you qualify for elite status in May 2026, it will be valid until January 31, 2028, rather than expiring on December 31, 2027.

Starting February 1, 2026, additional changes will be implemented:

  • More points for Mosaic 3 and 4:
Mosaic 3 members will earn 10 points per dollar when booking directly with JetBlue, while Mosaic 4 members will earn 11 points per dollar.

  • More upgrades for Mosaic 4:
Mosaic 4 members will receive four Move to Mint upgrade certificates per elite-qualifying year, doubling the previous amount.

  • Lounge access:
Mosaic 4 members will receive complimentary access to JetBlue’s upcoming lounges in New York and Boston. Those without status can consider JetBlue’s premium card for lounge access.

TrueBlue cuts for 2026

Starting February 1, 2026, some benefits will be reduced or eliminated, including:

  • Fewer free checked bags:
Mosaic 1 members will receive one free checked bag instead of two, while all other members and Mint bookings will continue to receive two free checked bags.

  • Companion upgrades:
Mosaic 1 and 2 members will be able to upgrade two travel companions, while Mosaic 3 and 4 members can upgrade up to four. This change significantly impacts those traveling in larger groups.

  • Fewer free drinks:
In 2026, all Mosaic members flying in standard economy will receive just one free alcoholic drink, down from three. Complimentary drinks will still be available in upgraded seats, Mint, and on transatlantic flights.

Overall, while there are more benefits for top-tier elites, those at the lower levels may feel the pinch. The impact of these changes will depend on individual usage of the program.

Biggest winners? Families and top-tier elites

In summary, these changes favor families and top-tier Mosaic elites. Parents can now earn elite status—and the associated perks—more rapidly.

Mosaic 3 and 4 members will benefit from increased JetBlue points for direct bookings, retain two free checked bags, and gain additional Mint upgrades. Mosaic 4 members will also enjoy lounge access, although details on guest policies remain unclear.

While these updates appear promising, the specifics will ultimately dictate their value. The Family Tiles program stands out as an innovative addition, marking a significant highlight for families in this round of updates.
