Starting November 3, 2025, the Shop Your Way Mastercard will undergo a rebranding. Current cardholders will receive a new Citi-issued Mastercard featuring an updated rewards program. Citi has assured members that more details regarding the new card and its rewards will be provided closer to the launch date. Until then, cardholders can continue to use their existing cards to earn points as they normally would.
The Shop Your Way Mastercard has established itself as a distinctive and sought-after retail credit card, primarily due to its attractive and recurring limited-time spending bonuses. These promotions can yield cardholders cash back of up to 15%, translating into significant savings depending on the specific offer. While one-time welcome bonuses are common in the credit card industry, they typically cater only to new cardholders and are not recurring.
Beyond these enticing offers, the Shop Your Way Mastercard also provides robust ongoing rewards in popular spending categories, although the point values may be lower. Cardholders earn 5% back in points on gas station purchases and 3% back on eligible restaurant and grocery store purchases, up to the first $10,000 spent in these categories each calendar year. After reaching this limit, the rewards drop to 1%. Additionally, through the Shop Your Way shopping portal, cardholders can earn 2% back in points on eligible purchases from participating Shop Your Way merchants and 1% back on other eligible purchases.
Participating Shop Your Way merchants include well-known retailers such as Sears, Kmart, Home Depot, Macy’s, Walmart, and Walgreens, among thousands of other popular brands.
A bit of history
The Shop Your Way Mastercard was launched in 2017 through a partnership between Citi and Sears. Despite Sears filing for bankruptcy in October 2018, a limited number of stores remained operational, allowing the card to continue accepting new applications.
In addition to the Shop Your Way Mastercard, there was a separate Sears Mastercard, which transitioned to the Citi ThankYou® Mastercard® in April 2025. This new card allows users to earn Citi ThankYou points, which can be redeemed for travel, cash back, gift cards, and purchases with eligible merchants.
