That transaction was announced in March and finalized in October of the same year. Currently, Berkshire holds a record cash reserve of $344 billion, positioning it well for significant investments.<\/p>\n<p>At 95 years old, Buffett plans to step down as CEO of Berkshire at the end of 2025, although he will continue to serve as chairman. His successor, Greg Abel, previously the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, brings extensive experience in the energy sector.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the news of the potential deal, shares of Houston-based Occidental fell by 1.8% on Tuesday. Berkshire Hathaway currently owns over $11 billion worth of Occidental stock, representing a 28.2% stake.
