However, she emphasized that “they are investors, so naturally buying and selling is their business, so it’s not because they don’t like us.”<\/p>\nAnd Reuters<\/em> quotes<\/a> a special adviser to BYD, Alfredo Altavilla, as saying that Buffett “made a profit of 20 times the capital he invested. He did very well to do what he did.”<\/p>\n“We’ve been extremely glad to have had Buffett (as an investor), but the fact that he monetized his position is exactly what Berkshire Hathaway does for a 10%<\/h2>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>While Berkshire is winding down its Chinese investments, it is simultaneously increasing its stakes in Japanese “<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sogo_shosha?__source=newsletter%7Cwarrenbuffettwatch\" target=\"_blank\">trading house<\/a>” stocks.<\/p>\n<p>This week, <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"SpecialReportArticle-QuoteInBody-12\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/8031.T-JP\/\">Mitsui<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> announced in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mitsui.com\/jp\/en\/release\/2025\/1252094_14855.html?__source=newsletter%7Cwarrenbuffettwatch\" target=\"_blank\">news release<\/a> that it was “informed” by Berkshire that “they now hold 10% or more of the voting rights in Mitsui as a result of an additional acquisition of our shares.”<\/p>\n<p>However, the exact number of shares owned by Berkshire remains undisclosed.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/disclosure2dl.edinet-fsa.go.jp\/searchdocument\/pdf\/S100VE4E.pdf?sv=2020-08-04&st=2025-09-27T00:10:51Z&se=2030-03-18T15:00:00Z&sr=b&sp=rl&sig=QQVFWJARj%2BlHTbla39taB9pylgMZsulACmaDD2saS5c%3D&__source=newsletter%7Cwarrenbuffettwatch\" target=\"_blank\">March 17 disclosure<\/a>, Berkshire reported holding a 9.8% stake of 285,401,400 Mitsui shares, valued at approximately $7.3 billion at today’s closing prices.<\/p>\n<p>Late last month, a Mitsui official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/28\/berkshire-raises-stake-in-japans-mitsubishi-above-10percent.html\">told <em>Reuters<\/em><\/a> that Berkshire had raised its stake but did not specify a percentage.<\/p>\n<p>Simultaneously, <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"SpecialReportArticle-QuoteInBody-16\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/8058.T-JP\/\">Mitsubishi<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li, appearing on CNBC Europe’s Access Middle East<\/em> this week<\/a>, echoed the sentiments expressed on Weibo, stating that Buffett and Munger “loved” BYD and its management. However, she emphasized that “they are investors, so naturally buying and selling is their business, so it’s not because they don’t like us.”<\/p>\nAnd Reuters<\/em> quotes<\/a> a special adviser to BYD, Alfredo Altavilla, as saying that Buffett “made a profit of 20 times the capital he invested. He did very well to do what he did.”<\/p>\n“We’ve been extremely glad to have had Buffett (as an investor), but the fact that he monetized his position is exactly what Berkshire Hathaway does for a class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"SpecialReportArticle-QuoteInBody-12\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/8031.T-JP\/\">Mitsui<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sogo_shosha?__source=newsletter%7Cwarrenbuffettwatch\" target=\"_blank\">trading house<\/a>” stocks.<\/p>\n<p>This week, <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"SpecialReportArticle-QuoteInBody-12\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/8031.T-JP\/\">Mitsui<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> announced in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mitsui.com\/jp\/en\/release\/2025\/1252094_14855.html?__source=newsletter%7Cwarrenbuffettwatch\" target=\"_blank\">news release<\/a> that it was “informed” by Berkshire that “they now hold 10% or more of the voting rights in Mitsui as a result of an additional acquisition of our shares.”<\/p>\n<p>However, the exact number of shares owned by Berkshire remains undisclosed.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/disclosure2dl.edinet-fsa.go.jp\/searchdocument\/pdf\/S100VE4E.pdf?sv=2020-08-04&st=2025-09-27T00:10:51Z&se=2030-03-18T15:00:00Z&sr=b&sp=rl&sig=QQVFWJARj%2BlHTbla39taB9pylgMZsulACmaDD2saS5c%3D&__source=newsletter%7Cwarrenbuffettwatch\" target=\"_blank\">March 17 disclosure<\/a>, Berkshire reported holding a 9.8% stake of 285,401,400 Mitsui shares, valued at approximately $7.3 billion at today’s closing prices.<\/p>\n<p>Late last month, a Mitsui official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/28\/berkshire-raises-stake-in-japans-mitsubishi-above-10percent.html\">told <em>Reuters<\/em><\/a> that Berkshire had raised its stake but did not specify a percentage.<\/p>\n<p>Simultaneously, <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"SpecialReportArticle-QuoteInBody-16\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/8058.T-JP\/\">Mitsubishi<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span
