However, shortly after, <\/span><br \/>\n      <a class=\"_28z5Fp _2JIHTU vLzrnO _3mJuQ4\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nerdwallet.com\/article\/mortgages\/mortgage-rates-today-thursday-september-25-2025\" data-currency=\"Link\" target=\"_self\"><br \/>\n        <span class=\"_3VmbAf _28z5Fp _3-to_p\">mortgage rates began to rise again<\/span><br \/>\n      <\/a><br \/>\n      <span class=\"_28z5Fp _3-to_p\">. Year-over-year, sales increased in the Midwest and South, while the Northeast and West saw declines.<\/span>\n    <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"_3VJt4n\">\n<p class=\"_28z5Fp _3-to_p\">\n      <span class=\"_28z5Fp _3-to_p\">Despite this, NAR chief economist Lawrence Yun expressed optimism about the future. \u201cMortgage rates are declining and more inventory is coming to the market, which should boost sales in the coming months,\u201d he noted in the news release.<\/span>\n    <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"_3VJt4n\">\n<p class=\"_28z5Fp _3-to_p\">\n      <span class=\"_28z5Fp _3-to_p\">Yun also highlighted the \u201crecord-high stock market,\u201d suggesting that some homeowners may feel more financially secure and have the flexibility to \u201ctrade up,\u201d which could create momentum in high-end listings.<\/span>\n    <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"_3VJt4n\">\n<p class=\"_28z5Fp _3-to_p\">\n      <span class=\"_28z5Fp _3-to_p\">However, he acknowledged that buyers are facing a limited inventory of \u201caffordable\u201d homes, with the median home price last month exceeding $400,000.<\/span>\n    <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"_3VJt4n\">\n<p class=\"_28z5Fp _3-to_p\">\n      <span class=\"_28z5Fp _3-to_p\">Homeowners with moderately priced homes may feel that current APRs are significantly higher than their existing rates, making it difficult to justify a move.
